Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) can make treatments for health conditions difficult. In this condition, large intestine bacteria move into the small intestines. It may significantly interfere with the digestion of food and assimilation of nutrients; and can produce dangerous effects in the small intestines.
Symptoms Caused By SIBO:
- Bloating and Gas
- Nausea
- Reflux or Belching
- Weight Loss Due To Poor Nutrient Intake
- Respond Poorly To Fiber Or Probiotics Containing Prebiotics
- Muscle Pain
- Constipation or Diarrhea
- Inflammation Cytokines
- Vitamin Deficiencies like low B12
- Food Intolerances and Sensitivities
Any condition that triggers more cytokines can make it look like an underlying health condition such as Lyme disease is worse than what it is. Most Lyme disease symptoms are caused by excess cytokines. So if SIBO triggers more cytokines, it will worsen a person’s Lyme disease symptoms or other underlying health condition.
In Lyme disease, SIBO can develop due to disruption of good stomach and intestinal function caused by the Lyme and the tick-borne co-infections, side effects of medicines, and disruption of good bacteria balance from using herbal and prescription antibiotics.
Balancing gastric secretions is important. Hypochlorhydria or long term use of HCL suppressing medications like PPI's are linked to SIBO. Opiate pain killers interfere with motility, as does methane gas released from SIBO which also adversely affects peristalsis because it lowers serotonin, needed for healthy motility. Long term antibiotics create SIBO. Oral steroids and birth control pills also create SIBO. Stomach acid is necessary for the digestion of protein and minerals and acts as an anti-microbial.
Successfully Treating SIBO Requires:
- Restoring proper functioning of the intestines.
- Eating a healthy FodMap type diet.
- Removing the large intestine bacteria from the small intestines.
- Restoring a good balance of bacteria and functioning of the intestines.
The FodMap diet is not meant to be a permanent diet. It is hard to do for a long time. After SIBO is under control, then shift to a diet that is rich in plant-based foods. Such diets support healthy gut function and a balanced gut microbiome. These diets are also anti-inflammatory.
There are two ways to test for SIBO. One is to have a culture of your small intestines. If too many bacteria grow, then a person has SIBO. The second and easiest way to test is called a SIBO Breath Test, which your doctor can order. This test checks for hydrogen and/or methane gases.
Fixing SIBO Requires:
- Starving Toxins & Detoxify
- Control Toxicity
- Repair GI Function and Damage
- Support gut Motility and Valve Function
DesBio's SIBO Protocol
Step 1: Omni-Detoxification Kit with SIBO Dietary Modifications
Step 2: PathoGuard, Intestinal Restore, ReFlux, DysBio Plus, MegaSporeBiotic, Candida Spp.
Additional Options
Omni-Detoxification Kit: Relieves symptoms of detoxification throughout the entire body, brain, spine, extracellular space, liver, gastrointestinal tract, bladder, kidneys and lymph. Helps to keep pathways of detoxification open and clear before and during the protocol. Comes with a special diet to follow. These remedies are taken throughout the entire protocol
PathoGuard:. Clears out bacteria, worms, parasites and viruses. Supports the immune system and GI function.
ReFlux Drops: Relieves symptoms of heartburn and esophageal reflux.
Candida Spp Drops: Relieves symptoms of various forms of Candida overgrowth such as nausea, drowsiness, lethargy, confusion, vaginal discharge, sensitivities with food and mucus congestion.
Leaky Gut Drops: Relieves symptoms of leaky gut syndrome, fatigue, seasonal allergies, joint pain, constipation, mental fogginess and occasional diarrhea.
Ileocecal Valve Drops: Relieves symptoms related to Ileocecal Valve dysfunction including pelvic pain, fever, headache, bad breath, ringing in the ears, occasional diarrhea, and constipation. The ileocecal valve between the large and small intestines prevents back flow between chambers. Low ileocecal valve pressure is associated with SIBO.
DysBio Plus: Helps to improve gut dysbiosis.
MegaSporeBiotic: Soil based probiotic does not contain prebiotics. Helps to repopulate with good flora.
Intestinal Restore: Provides multifaceted support for digestive health and intestinal integrity. Intestinal Restore features Tegricel®, a source of serum antibodies and immunoglobulins, to support the healthy functioning of the gastrointestinal immune system. Glutamine is the preferred amino acid for regeneration of intestinal cells while mucilaginous herbs soothe inflamed and damaged tissues. Finally, digestive enzymes encourage healthy digestion and absorption of macronutrients.
SIBO Biotic: Comprehensive, therapeutically dosed collection of bacteria-balancing ingredients for SIBO. Contains garlic, berberine, oregano and caprylic acid.
