Estrogen deprivation actually depletes the integrity of your bones.  Estrogen Loss Decreases Calcium Absorption. Estrogen helps to regulate calcium levels in the body, which is important for building and maintaining bone density. Estrogen Loss means the body may not absorb calcium from the diet as efficiently, leading to lower bone density.  Estrogen also plays a role in stimulating the activity of osteoblasts, cells that build new bone tissue.
