Karen Fitzpatrick-Dame, ChhC, AADP
Thyroid: Iodine is important for the functioning of the thyroid. It is needed for the production of thyroid hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). Iodine is needed by the main thyroid hormone, Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), to release T3 and T4 and prevent the development of a goiter (an enlarged thyroid)....

ADRENALS.....These Glands Need Love Too.
Karen Fitzpatrick-Dame, ChhC, AADP
The adrenal glands release stress hormones, cortisol and adrenaline in response to a stressor. If the stress continues for a long period of time, the adrenals can no longer meet the demands for putting out a continuous supply of stress hormones leaving the adrenals and you exhausted. What happens next is that this high level of adrenal stress hormones disrupt the normal functions of the thyroid gland which is why the adrenals need to be addressed prior to the thyroid.

What Is Hormonal Weight Gain?
Karen Fitzpatrick-Dame, ChhC, AADP
You suddenly start putting on extra pounds (especially around the belly and hips). Your weight refuses to budge no matter how much you exercise or cut back on calories. If any of the above resonates with you, then you’re most likely dealing with hormonal weight gain. 90% of weight gain is due to hormonal disregulation, it has very little to do with calories, and all to do with how your body is balancing its hormones. Although food is important it is secondary to hormones in controlling our weight.
Iodine Is Not Just For Your Thyroid And There's Mass Confusion On This Topic.
Karen Fitzpatrick-Dame, ChhC, AADP
Iodine is used all over your body, in all of your organs especially your breasts and prostate. Trillions of cells have a receptor site for iodine and need it — and, sadly, many people are starving themselves of iodine because they think it is radioactive or they think they are allergic to it because of an allergy to shellfish which is not an iodine allergy, it's an allergy to a protein in shellfish.

You don't have to use prescription hormones and for many women, they are not an option.
If Your Drainage Pathways Are Not Open, Your Hormone Health Will Suffer.
Karen Fitzpatrick-Dame, ChhC, AADP
This Is Especially True If You Are On Hormone Therapy. Drainage pathways are specific organs and systems that carry out the toxins, pathogens and excess hormones from the body. These pathways are how hormones are removed from the blood stream after the cell releases them. Drainage pathways essentially evict excess hormones because excess hormones can be toxic and throw the body further out of balance, making you feel worse.
